30 Dec Ready for growth in 2018?
We’re almost to the tail end of 2017. Whether you’ve had a great year, or a cruddy one, can I get an “Amen!” that we now have an opportunity to hit the annual reset button and make 2018 our best year ever! Not that it takes January 1st rolling around to start anew, but hey – it’s as good a time as any!
I, for one, am planning to have a rock star year in 2018…I’m talking Bon Jovi during the hair band days, the Beatles first US tour, a real holy cow look at her kind of year! Sounds good, right? There’s no way to miss. Goals are mapped out, strategies have been clearly outlined, and daily disciplines are already in motion. As we say to the kids, I’ll be growing like a weed.
What do you need to do to grow yourself and your business in 2018? Here are a few tips:
Take time to PRUNE
Perhaps the best thing I ever did for myself and my business was to learn to say “No!” more often. No to the things and people that don’t bring me energy, or that aren’t pushing me forward toward my goals. Are you saying “Yes” when you should be saying “No!” to things? Take time to evaluate your commitments and what takes up valuable space on your calendar. If they drain you & have no purpose in your overall plan, it’s time to prune.
PLANT SEEDS for future growth
If you’re not growing, you dying. Continually be thinking about what your want your business and your life to look like in 3 years, 5 years, 10+ years. There is no better time than now to plant seeds & cultivate relationships you will sow for years and years to come. Apply the same thought process to your long-range goals as you do to your short. Ask yourself – who do I need to meet and what do I need to do to get where I want to go? Don’t put planting off another year, do it now …..tick tock!
FEED your body, mind and soul
In order to grow into your potential, you have to be fed. Your body, your mind and your soul all require nourishment to flourish. What have you built into your routine that allows yourself to be fed? Are there books you need to read or courses to take? Are there individuals or groups of people you should spend more time with so that you can soak in all the knowledge and great energy they possess. Whatever it is that feeds you, my friend…..seek it out and do that!
MONITOR your growth
Enough with New Year’s resolutions that tend to be abandoned by February. It’s time to set forth things you will actually commit to. Goals and activities you fight day & night to achieve. What is it you need to do to achieve your personal and professional goals? Who is it you need to meet to propel yourself forward? That is what you need to focus on — the activities and the relationships that will push you past your goals.
Once you clearly outline your goals and the strategies you will employ to hit them, continually monitor where you are. Are you on track? Are your strategies working, or are there tweaks to be made?
Lastly, get some “butts in the stands” to help you. Engage a coach or an accountability partner to ensure you stick to your commitments. They will help you stay on track, and course correct when needed.
Together, let’s make 2018 our best year yet!
