5 Sure-fire Gift ideas

5 Sure-fire Gift ideas

If you’re like me, choosing the absolute perfect gift is quite a difficult talk. I am definitely not skilled in the gift-giving arena. I love to give them…..but actually choosing what to give makes my stress level rise!

To streamline the gift giving process, and to lower that holiday stress a tad, I have come up with a few suggestions that fit practically every budget, and satisfy even the toughest people on your list. This list is focused more on clients and professional connections, but could be used for anyone on your “Nice List!”

Gifts that Promote Other Clients & Friends

One of my favorite things to do it to be a champion and advocate for other’s businesses — whether they be online shops or brick and mortar stores.

I am fortunate this year to have had one client release a Clean Cocktails recipe book (http://amzn.to/2zZZXhF) as well as another friend open a clothing & gift boutique (http://bit.ly/2hKYq4i). A few clicks, a couple of visits to the store and between the two of them, I have a large chunk of my holiday shopping already done. Plus – I’m getting all the feels for helping support two amazing business women.

Who do you have in your network that offers unique items? Choose a gift from them, and be sure to tell the recipient all about it! I have found my clients have appreciated the gift even more when they learn it came from another client or friend. Friends helping friends – isn’t that the name of the game?

The “I’m Paying Attention” Gift

Here’s a fun (but tricky) one. Everyone, and I mean everyone, gives us plenty of hints as to what they would like to receive. Our challenge is to observe and to pick up what they’re throwing down.

Listen when clients comment on a particular item, or mention a favorite store or restaurant. Pay attention to their social media posts that rave about the latest & greatest thing they have seen. Make notes — create your list.

Earlier this year I ordered a few sarcastic, pithy t-shirts after seeing a couple of my (politically charged) friends & centers-of-influence comment on a post of a celebrity wearing this same shirt! Ordered – sent – bam! They absolutely loved them and even more than that, loved that I thought of them.

Now….let’s move on to the old standby’s:

Books

Personal growth is a must for all professionals. If you’re not continually feeding your mind, your business and your life is likely to stagnate, or worse, regress. Why not give a bit of energy and juice this holiday season – or anytime during the year – to help keep friends and clients motivated.

Personally, I love anything by Gary Vaynerchuck, Simon Sinek, Tony Robbins and Jon Gordon. A nice hard cover book with a personalized note about what you gleaned from reading it makes a fantastic client gift.

Journals

Who doesn’t love having “many leather bound books?” Ron Burgundy sure does! Beautiful leather bound journals make a wonderful gift for men and women alike. I buy myself a new one at the start of each year & use it to jot down goals, notes and inspirational thoughts throughout the year. Keeps everything in once handy place – plus, it looks polished and professional.

I scoop them up anytime I see ones I love and gift them throughout the year. If a friend or client mentions they love to journal or that they are an avid note-taker, I wrap one up and send it on over.

A Fancy Schmancy Pen

As boring as this may sound, this old school gift is a definite crowd pleaser (even for girlie girls like me!). My former firm gave out engraved Mont Blanc pens for achieving a certain goal. We coveted winning those pens, and to a person, mostly all still have them.

A timeless, classic pen or similar keepsake, beautifully engraved with someone’s name is a thoughtful gift professionals will cherish for years to come.
